Feb. 2015

President of ALGS , Neva Beasly ,drove down from Huntsville, over the mountains and through the  bad weather to teach us about knotless netting. We had a great turnout.  She updated us about changes in ALGS show competition. We will be hosting the spring ALGS meeting on March 28 in conjunction with the March Gourd Madness show in Clanton.

 Becky led our group in the use of colored pencils. It seems all can be used. with pencils you work from dark to light, blend, blend blend! we had lunch and great fellowship.
 Next patch meeting Feb. 21. The new ALGS president, Neva Beasley will be teaching us how to make a dream catcher. Lunch will be provided. All should bring a gourd to work on. Works for the show in Clanton should be brought to meeting. All should send Be my our photos to be printed out.

2015 in the planning

Lots of new plans for patch planned for new year were discussed at Dec meeting. Gourds will be a feature in Montevallo and Clanton in March and June. It was decided not to participate I'm Montevallo show in park this year. Some are deciding about going to gourd gathering in Cherokee this year. Well with cold weather upon us it is time to get gourding !

Annual Gourd Show in Cullman

Wow, what an amazing weekend we had . Our booth was a great succes and our patch rocked in the awards arena. We now have the reigning gourd king. (Mack has yet to let his feet touch the ground)
Jim won the people's choice award.  ( he was in his pj's when he got his reward.
ann was elected to serve as one of 2 directors positions. Congrats  Ann!

August Meeting

We have lots of ornaments from last month's meeting for show. Karen Stone did a great class on how to paint high lights and low lights in holiday vignettes on egg gourds. Her husband James builtdisplay shelves that we will use in October. They are just what we needed. Mack will teach us how to hatch a cute chicken with a dourd and some clay at our next meeting.
